Tasty Ways to Kick Dehydration to the Curb

All summer long, we were warned about the dangers of dehydration. And while you probably sweat more in the summer (and therefore require more water), it can be argued that it’s easier to drink more water when it’s warm out. It sounds good, it’s refreshing — it’s a no-brainer.
But in the winter? Hot cocoa (or, hell, a hot toddy) often sound much better than a tall glass of ice water, but it’s still important to sip all day long, because chances are you’re dehydrated. Yes, you. How do I know this? It’s because up to 75 percent of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
Now, if I have a super power, it’s that I have no problem drinking lots of water, all day long — like a boss. I keep either a big glass or a large water bottle nearby at all times, and when I get a hankering for something fizzy, I go for sparky water rather than a pop. However, I know that guzzling H2O doesn’t come naturally to everyone, so I wanted to share this fun infographic from Budget Direct. It not only offers some tantalizing suggestions for ways to jazz up your glass (OMG, pomegranate ginger lime? THIS IS HAPPENING), but also has recommendations for when to enjoy it for best results, whether it’s to perk you up or help you sleep.

If you had to guess, would you say you’re one of the 75 percent of Americans who are dehydrated? Or are you an awesome water swigger? —Kristen
