Protein & Chocolate—An Awesome Combo

You know what every girl needs? Chocolate. And you know what every bride-to-be really needs? Chocolate! Which is why today we’re reviewing two LUNA chocolate protein bars that make us oh so happy-happy-joy-joy.

Packed with 12 grams of soy and whey protein and three grams of fiber to fill you up, this is the mint-chocolate treat that seriously gives back. With a chocolate nougat center mixed with chocolate chips and a hint of peppermint, this is my latest crave. (It’s like Thin Mints, only not thin, and minus the guilt.) Each bar is a little chewy and tastes totally decadent. Plus with calcium, folic acid, iron and vitamin D, it’s a woman’s nutritional BFF. And did I mention each bar has 170 calories, and is gluten free? Oh, yes. We’ve died and gone to mint heaven.

Although I love me some mint-chocolate, I get that sometimes you just need a hit of chocolate. Pure chocolately-chocolate. And with this protein bar, you get chocolate nougat with chocolate chips, which is pretty much my chocolate happy place. With nutritionals similar to the previous bar, this one also has 170 calories, 12 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber, plus all those good-for-you vitamins I already mentioned. With a soft inside texture, a thin layer of chocolate on the outside and none of that chalky taste most protein bars have, this is a bar that’s going in my emergency I-need-chocolate-now stash, stat!

LUNA swears to us that all ingredients in these bars are 100 percent natural, as organic as possible, and contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives (and we believe them because we know first-hand that they rock). While not something we’d make a part of our daily diet (unprocessed food always rocks just a little bit more!), the occasional snack on the go or treat? Hells to the yes. —Jenn
