Ready to Run: 3 New Brooks Running Pieces for Summer

Epiphany Support Tank II

brooks running

One of the coolest things I learned during my time with the Brooks Running peeps was that they get women runners. They listen, and they make products that women want. For example, this Epiphany Support Tank II isn’t just a tank with a supportive shelf. No, no, it’s a tank with a full-on built-in sports bra that supports ladies up to a C cup. (Kind of like this Moving Comfort tank we reviewed—remember that? Hoping this is a new trend!) Hallelujah—no need for a tank and a separate sports bra!

This tank is fitted and pretty tight up top (especially if you have broad shoulders and a wider chest like I do, you might want to size up. My usual medium that I wear is a touch too small for me and can get uncomfortable if I’m in in it longer than an hour), but has a longer length and a forgiving middle that I love. It also has seamless cup construction for comfort and less risk of chafing—and “enhanced modesty,” which basically means if you hit the freezer section at the grocery store after your run, no nipples will be spotted. Again, hallelujah. The material wicks away sweat, and there is stragetically placed mesh for added ventilation to keep you cool. And did you see the super-cute double-strap racerback? Love that. At $52, it’s a bit pricier than I’d like, but the quality is top-notch. And, again, the built-in bra thing is dang cool.

Oh what a pretty shoe! No, I’m an Asics girl, but only because I haven’t tried Brooks. My the shorts are short aren’t they? I have pretty short liners I wear running with short shorts. Boys will be boys and look, you know? I’ll keep an eye out for Brook sales.

I am in LOVE with the new PureCadence (in hot, screaming pink!). Just got a pair a week ago, and did a 5 mile run this past weekend. They are cushy, but super lightweight and great for promoting a better stride.
I also got rather brave and recently picked up the d’lite mesh skort. I say “brave” because I’m normally a SkirtSports girl.. I like a little more coverage (forget shorts, those things would ride up on me in the first 10 steps!). I’d tried other Brooks skorts before, and always had to send them back because they would do the same 🙁
The d’lite skort, however, has little grippies in the shorts, and they stayed put even after a NASTY, sweaty interval run in high humidity! And it feels like you’re wearing nothing, so there ya go!

  3. I’ve actually been a Brooks girl since 2009 and it’s all I run in. I’m just breaking in my Pure Cadence right now and they are FABULOUS! I also have a pair of old Adrenalines and Trances that have been “retired” for runs, but I just can’t let them go, so they’re used with insoles for hikes, walks, outdoor activities, etc. And then my normal 2 pairs of Adrenalines and a pair of Green Silence are in the current rotation with the Pure Cadences. Just picked up the 3.5″ shorts (non-woven ones, but now I really want to try them) and LOVE them! Love the soft, wide waistband and don’t mind that they’re short. I’m short (5′), so why shouldn’t my shorts be short, too?!
