How Many Hours a Day Do You Sit?
Are you sitting down? Well, if you are, stand up. But, no, don’t leave. We want you to take our poll first. Because after Monday’s review of the Standing Fit standing desk, we want to know about how much time you spend on your booty. And not working out your booty; actually how much time you spend sitting on it. So tell us, how many hours a day do you spend in the seated position? And, yeah, we don’t think sleep, yoga or meditation should count either…
If you sit for more than a few hours a day, check out these tips for fitting in exercise at work and at the very least, make a point to stand up and walk around for at least a minute or two every hour. When it comes to your health, every bit really does help!
And tell us, how do you sit less and stand more? —Jenn

I like to think that I am on feet a lot. Whenever I am in the same place for too long, I have to get up and get moving! But now that I actually *SIT* here and think about it: it is several hours nonetheless. UGH!
Wow very interesting poll and shocking results!
I’ll definitely be checking out your at work exercise tips, I’m sure there a few I should be incorporating throughout my day.
I work in a busy newsroom and I blog about health and wellness, so I feel like I do a lot of sitting. But, at work I get up every 20 minutes and walk around, at home I use a standing desk, I work out everyday, and when I can I stand instead of sitting. Still research shows that sitting for over four hours a day has negative health effects. Ugh…all this sitting is gross.
So, so much. Way too much. At least an hour on my commute alone. 8 hours at work. An hour at dinner. A half hour reading before bed. That’s already 10 1/2 hours, and that’s a minimum! But guess technically I *could* shave off a little in the evenings, but that would mean giving up reading books and giving up nice, long dinners with my boyfriend, neither of which I’m willing to do.
