Now, if you haven’t heard yet: protein does wonders for your body…and your appetite. Each evening (okay—I’m an addict), I make myself Protein Ice Cream to kick my sweet tooth and give my body something healthy to enjoy before I head to bed. This basic ice cream recipe only requires two ingredients and one hour before it can be destroyed…uhhh, I mean enjoyed! And if you crave ice cream with a little more excitement, I have two recipes that’ll shock you—you’ll think it was unhealthy. But it’s not! Oh, how I love Protein Ice Cream! And all of these have less than 200 calories a serving (nutritional facts will vary a bit based on which protein powder you use)…

Chocolate-Peanut-Butter-Casein Ice Cream Recipe

If you’re looking for a sweet solution that doesn’t involve Jell-O, consider using casein protein. It’ll still have the same creamy-thick affect! Here is my favorite Chocolate Peanut Butter Casein Ice Cream recipe. Note: It takes three hours to freeze, but it’s sooo worth the wait.
Ingredients
1 scoop vanilla or unflavored casein protein powder
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp PB2
2 tsp all-natural sweetener (I use Truvia or Nectresse)
3/4 c unsweetened almond milk
Directions
1. In a small bowl combine all ingredients until mixed together.
2. Place in freezer for three hours.
3. Take it out…nom, nom, nom, nom!

How many tbsp is your scoop of protein powder? 3 tbsp of water wasn’t enough for all that powder. Thanks for any tips.

    Hi
This sounds like a winner to me now you can use the protien powder and turn. Your shake in to ice cream sounds a much better option to me. I am going to have to keep some frozen and take it to the gym bound to get some reactions I am smiling already.
    Thanks lee

Fortunately you only use one tablespoon of sugar free jello. It contains xylitol which has some bad side effects. and you consume it daily. Why not try unflavored gelatin, use stevia (a healthy, non-fattening natural sweetener) and a little natural cocoa powder? Perhaps you can find a healthier version of flavored, sugar-free gelatin in Whole Foods or other health food stores?

I just whipped up the chocolate peanut butter one and it tastes pretty darn good. Wish I’d gotten it into the freezer sooner.
