You picked some really amazingly talented people (ahem) to contribute passages. How did you find these folks? Was it hard to convince them to write a little something?

Y’know, I thought it would be a lot harder than it was. I really expected to spend a lot of time stroking egos and calling in favors. But once I started asking my fellow triathletes to be a part of this book, I got nothing but “yes”es and genuine excitement for the project.

Then again, triathletes tend to help each other out. We’re a friendly bunch. My asking them to contribute their expertise to this book was really no different than asking if I could borrow a bike pump on race morning. It was so much fun to work with the contributors to this book — not only does it bring amazing advice to the new triathlete, but also it serves as a perfect example of how triathletes genuinely want to see the new members of our family succeed in the sport.
