Want to Do a Triathlon? This Book Will Get You to the Finish (With a Smile!)

Hey, everybody gets a little nervous now and again, right? Credit: jolisoleil, Flickr

What’s your favorite part of the book?

I think my favorite parts in the book are the ones where I address the common fears of new triathletes: What if I panic in the water? How am I supposed to change from one sport to the next? What if I make an ass of myself? I had to laugh as I looked back at where I was when I first got started — freaking out about lake zombies in my open-water swim (no, I’m not kidding) and crying because no matter how much time I spent and how many nails I broke, I still couldn’t change a flat tire on my bike.

You know about fears, right, Seymour? If I recall correctly, I had to push your crying Fit Bottom into the water before a certain scary triathlon (you’re welcome, by the way).

As I talked with the contributors to this book, I learned that they had those fears, too. Even pros like Hillary Biscay, who contributed to this book, shared her fears and how she overcame them. This book was designed to help new triathletes ease those fears so they can arrive to their first sprint triathlon healthy, happy and excited to race.
