Going Out for Ice Cream, Silk Almond Milk Ice Cream at TCBY (With Giveaway!)

When I was a kid, I remember the sheer joy that “going out for ice cream” was. It was like a holiday. From choosing just the right flavor to the best toppings to the cone or cup decision (oh my!), gosh, it was fun. Turns out, it’s pretty much just as fun when you’re an adult. Difference is, this time you get to drive yourself there!
But, I’m getting ahead of myself. ‘Cause I didn’t have ice cream for breakfast. Although, I can’t say I’ve never done that before … hehe. This was breakfast. My usual green smoothie with kale, strawberries, blueberries, ice and Structure protein powder. The weather has been so gorgeous lately that I had it al fresco.
After a great workout here (we did all kinds of fun stuff like pushing sleds, flipping tires and jumping on boxes, whee!) and doing some cleaning around the house, it was definitely lunch time. And for this Big-Ass Salad — my lunch du jour — I went really heavy on the beets. With turkey, arugula and lots of veggies, it was huge and awesome.
A couple hours later and TCBY was calling my name. Ice cream trip! (And I know it’s technically frozen yogurt, but in my brain it’s cold and sweet and therefore ice cream.)
Ryan and our friends Mike and Tessa came with me to check out TCBY’s newest offering: dairy-free and gluten-free fro-yo that’s made with Silk Almondmilk!
My little sensitive tummy was so happy to belly up to the bar to try it, too!
I got my Dark Chocolate Silk Almondmilk fro-yo with a few dark chocolate chips. Oh, yes.
Creamier than I expected for a non-dairy dessert, it had a rich chocolate flavor that I loved.
I practically licked the cup clean.
I’ll definitely be getting it again. And I imagine so will my buds. (Tessa ordered regular fro-yo, but was pleasantly surprised when she tasted a bit of mine.)
After our TCBY adventure, Ryan and I spent the evening cooking up a big ol’ dinner — which is pretty much our favorite way to bond. I’ll give you the full details of the craziness we cooked in a future post, but here were the yummy results. I’m always a sucker for tacos, and the watermelon-cucumber-mint salad on the side was so fresh and delicious, especially when paired with a glass of rosé.
A full day full of fit foodie eats. Not one complaint here! Want to try some TCBY Silk Almondmilk ice cream for yourself? Leave a comment with your favorite ice cream flavor, and we’ll pick a random U.S. winner in about a week to win a $5 gift certificate to do just that! —Jenn
