And Now for the 2011 Noshies!

noshies-2011Welcome to the second-annual* Noshies! A celebration of all things delicious and healthy! Just like yesterday’s Fitties paid homage to the best fitness products and gear on the market today, the Noshies showcase our favorite eats and nutrition products from the past year with the recognition and foodie-glory they deserve. So check them out—and gobble them up!

Drinks

Best in cereal: We’ve been using Silk Original Almond Milk in our cereal since this review. It’s that good!

Best recovery drink: We love chocolate milk as post-workout fuel (which studies have shown has an ideal nutritional make-up), but we really love this particular brand of chocolate milk. No hormones!

Snacks & Meals

Best nut: Sometimes you feel like a nut, and this skinny nut is our snacking fave!

Best chip: Hands down, Beanitos Chipotle BBQ black bean chips are the best and healthiest chips we’ve tasted!

Best protein bar/best chocolate fix: Luna Protein bars in Mint Chocolate and Chocolate are chocolate perfection—and they fill you up!

Best bagel: Thomas’ Whole-Wheat Bagel Thins are a completely guilt-free way to enjoy a bagel. Smear on some low-fat cream cheese or peanut butter and go to carb heaven.

Best cereal: Cereal can get boring, but Me & Goji makes customizable cereal blends that leave your cereal bowl happy and healthy!

Best dessert: They had us at frozen yogurt with probiotics, but they kept us with the great taste!

Cookbooks and Media

Best nutritional know-how: If you have the workout thing down, but don’t have a clue when it comes to nutrition and properly fueling your body, this DVD is a must-watch crash course.

Best way to learn how to cook: This four-DVD set is like going to culinary school in the comfort of your own home. We love!

Best non-diet diet book: The hated d-word may be in the title, but this lifestyle diet is based on research and is the basis of how we should eat—everything in moderation, including wine and chocolate (see above)!

Best cookbook: Cat Cora is a bad ass. Period.

Recipes

Best smoothie recipe: There are a lot of green smoothie recipes out there, but we’re smitten with Dr. Oz’s green concoction of healthy!

Best “oh my God, I-made this?” recipe: Just make it. You’ll see.

Best use of fish in a recipe: I’ve had dreams of these fish tacos. Now that’s foodie love.

Other Stuff that Deserves a Noshie But Doesn’t Fit Neatly in a Category

Best multitasking food: A bar of MacaSure Chocolat can satisfy a chocolate craving—and give you a craving for, ahem, something else. (It works…)

Dietitian we’d most like to work out with (and then have a glass of wine with): The one and only Joy Bauer! She’s just lovely. And funny. And smart. And real. We heart her.

Best keep-your-belly-happy help: More than just a reason to talk about poop (although we like that, too), taking these every day are a part of our healthy lifestyle!

A big congrats to this year’s Noshies winners! Our lives would be so much less delicious without you! And now we’re really, really hungry… —Jenn

*Don’t be confused that this is our three-year birthday and only our second-annual Noshies—last year was the first year we awarded the Noshies! (I had to remind myself of this repeatedly when creating the logo for the Noshies as I kept putting “third-annual”—false advertising!)
